People around the world are paying upwards of $99 a year to reap all of the rewards that come with an Amazon Prime subscription. One of the most popular benefits is expedited shipping on the majority of products on Amazon’s e-commerce website. However, this year, some customers believe Amazon has made a promise that it can’t keep.
A spokesperson for the Advertising Standards Authority has stated that they have received multiple complaints from unsatisfied Amazon customers who are saying that despite the claims that Amazon has been making, they aren’t receiving their parcels on time. In some cases, customers didn’t receive their packages for four days, when they’re paying for next day delivery.
While Amazon has advised that shipping schedules always fluctuate during the holiday season, and encouraged their consumers to purchase their goods with ample time to spare, it hasn’t stopped customers from making the complaints. The ASA has said that they’re now considering a formal inquiry into false advertisement claims and breach of contract.
The Advertising Standards Authority is asking that customers with delivery complaints contact them when they can. They haven’t yet decided if the allegations warrant a full investigation, but they are taking them seriously. Because of the Consumer Rights Act, Amazon must ensure that the package is showing up on time. The CRA is also what protects consumers and ensure that they receive a refund where it’s due. Consumers are entitled to a refund of the cost of express shipping if they didn’t receive it on time, and a full refund if they didn’t receive their delivery within 30 days.
Though the ASA is asking that customers contact them, a spokesperson for Amazon has said that customers should reach out to them with questions about their deliveries. When a certain amount gets spent, Amazon gives free delivery; but provides express, unlimited delivery to Prime customers. Amazon is also announcing that Saturday, December 23rd, is the final order date for Christmas arrivals. Prime members receive three additional days than regular Amazon members.
