Each year Forbes releases a list of America’s Richest Self-Made Women, and this year’s list caused a stir. With 60 women on it, there is a total net worth of approximately $71 billion combined, which is an increase from last year’s $61.5 billion. There is a minimum net worth bracket set at $320 million to get considered for the list, and that’s also an increase from the $260 million requirements of last year.
The list includes many impressive and inspiring women such as Diane Hendricks, who is the chairman of and co-founded ABC Supply and Marian Illitch, the founder of Little Caesars who made the list with a staggering $4.3 billion. Other ladies on the list include Oprah Winfrey and Doris Fisher, the co-founder of The Gap. However, it’s Kylie Jenner who made the cover, and it’s Kylie Jenner that everyone is talking about. Kylie, who turns 21 in August, has a cosmetics company that she 100% owns and has turned it into a $900 million empire. Kylie’s incredible social media involvement has only helped build her massive fortune. She did almost break Snapchat, after all.
Kylie has stated that it’s an incredible feeling to get recognized for something she’s so passionate about. Her love for makeup and strong work ethic made it possible for her to launch her first lip kit, which did incredibly well. Kylie also said that the process of creating products that excite her fans has been amazing, and that she hopes to inspire others with how much she’s learned.
While Kylie didn’t make it to the Top 10, her ranking is still significant, as are her achievements. She is one of few Generation Z women who made it on Forbes’ coveted list. At number 21, Anastasia Soare, the founder of Anastasia of Beverly Hills, comes in with $1 billion. The founder of Huda Beauty, Huda Kattan, ranks at number 37 with $550 million. With $440 million, Anne Wojcicki, the co-founder and chief executive officer of 23andMe, comes in at number 44.
It didn’t surprise many people that Kylie Jenner came in at number 27, while her sister, Kim Kardashian West came in at number 54 with $350 million. What did surprise people was the reaction that Jenner’s fans had to her making her way to being the youngest self-made billionaire ever. Kylie’s fans and following are so passionate; a GoFundMe campaign has been created to raise $100 million to get Kylie Jenner to a billion. What’s even more shocking, is the campaign has already raised over $2,000. You can find the full list of the Forbes America’s Richest Self-Made Women and the Kylie GoFundMe campaign below.
