The youth of today have found a newly found passion: entrepreneurship. Studies have shown that more than 60 percent of high school students dream of becoming entrepreneurs. Matiss Ozerkis, an 18-year-old student from Riga, Latvia has made his teenage hustle dream a reality from the comfort of his bedroom.
Learning Marketing from Your Bedroom
Matiss chose to begin an online business because it allowed him to work from inside his bedroom in his parent’s house. Once he figured out how to start a business, he learned the marketing strategy of Sponsored Facebook Ads to spread awareness of his Shopify store.
Matiss and His E-Commerce Store Artsy Wall
Within the first six months of creating his startup, Matiss has accumulated $70,000 in revenue, averaging $3,000 of profit a month. Artsy Wall, his most profitable project, began as a test run but quickly started to generate more sales than anything else he had previously tried to sell. On it, he sells quality wall art at affordable prices.
Drop Shipping is Changing the Business Game
Matiss uses Oberlo to manage his online store. Oberlo is a platform that allows drop shipping stores to distribute and sell products between each other. Drop shipping is a method of supply chain management where the retailer has no actual stock, but instead, they transfer orders and details about shipments to a wholesaler, a different retailer, or the manufacturer of the product, where they then ship the order straight to the customer. Drop shipping allows entrepreneurs to try out selling many different products conveniently and efficiently.
Matiss is an inspiration for any student who feels they do not have the time or means to put their ideas into action while they are busy with school. Age does not matter when it comes mastering the entrepreneurial mindset.
